See you there! Studio "Vērtes"
nature awakens
Spring, Easter, and Bird Day – Nature awakens!!! For enlightening activities, conversations, and workshops: about birds, about trees, about plants, both big and small, called out the team of AK Miķelis.
In the small barn of the rural homestead, one could learn about birds that the State Forest Service has declared as the symbol of the year over the past six years, as well as about passerines, corvids, and the tit family. Choosing their favorite bird, participants could craft it from threads. Thanks to the creative girls from the studio "Vērtes" for their help in tying knots, making bouquets, and crafting birds. Information and materials about birds were obtained in collaboration with the Latvian Ornithological Society within the framework of Bird Day events.
The gardener from AK Miķelis invited visitors to recognize the trees whose pruned branches belong to which tree. It turned out that willows are often mistaken for birches, while oaks and maples nearby are surprisingly slender. Meanwhile, at the household's end, the herbalist and seed nurturing messenger Vineta Skalberga shared her knowledge about Latvian homestead plants, their appearance, growth, and use in food. The hazelnut bark cakes and gorse pesto pleasantly surprised the taste buds of the visitors.
A diverse group of curious guests had gathered for the opening festivities of the rural homestead, leisurely enjoying the surroundings, reading and studying, conversing, listening, and photographing both themselves and informational materials.
Miķelis Museum in the recreation complex is a private museum that cherishes and maintains the museum established in the 1970s, as well as researches and tells the history of life in the rural areas of Zemgale.
